Pastor

The Rev. Dr. Eileen Borduin Vanderzwan joined UUC on Pentecost Sunday, May 24, 2026. Ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament by the Presbyterian Church, she brings a unique blend of theological depth and artistic passion, holding a Doctor of Ministry in Transformational Leadership and a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary.

With a background in music and choral conducting and experience serving congregations from New York to Scotland, she is dedicated to creating “windows into the holy” through inclusive, arts-inspired worship.

Administrative Secretary

Lana Meissner has been an active member of UUC since 1977. She has an undergraduate degree in English Literature from Ripon College, Ripon, WI and an MLS from the University of Maine, Orono. She retired from Alfred University as Associate VP for Information Technology and University Librarian in 2006. After retirement she served as interim director of the Box of Books Library in the Village of Alfred for a number of years. This is her third “stint” as UUC secretary. Lana enjoys gardening, reading (especially with the Box of Books True Crime Book Club), travel, tai chi, crafts, good food, time with friends, working with UUC members, and most especially, time with her granddaughter, Lily.

Musicians

Laurel Buckwalter is the UUC organist and also serves on the church Board of Trustees. Laurel has a Bachelor of Music in piano, a Master of Science in Education and Carillonneur certification with the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America. She and Peter frequently play organ-piano duets for the prelude and at other times in worship. Laurel was a technical specialist in music at Alfred University but is now retired.

Maintenance

Maureen Wilsey is responsible for cleaning the Church and the Church Center, which means not only cleaning the buildings following the typical Sunday use but also maintaining them during the week for the groups that use the Church Center. Maureen has been on staff since August 2022.
