Follow along with our Lenten virtual tour of the biblical world. We walked/ran/biked/skied/swam/yoga-ed through the ancient Middle East from February 17-April 4th, 2021 moving our peg along the course by adding miles participants accrue at home through their exercise. We started in the city of Ur, (in modern day Iraq) where Abraham and Sarah began their long journey toward Canaan (modern day Israel), traveled through Canaan down to Egypt following Joseph’s captivity, escaped with the slaves as Moses took us to Mount Sinai, wandered in the wilderness, crossed the Jordan with Joshua, and traveled to the towns and sites associated with Jesus’ ministry ending finally at Golgotha on Good Friday where we waited until the news of his resurrection on Easter.
Participants received emails throughout Lent with updates, pictures, biblical references, and interesting facts. You may see the content of the emails by clicking on the links below.
The following emails also include brief devotionals for each day of Holy Week

Note for participants:
- For exercise without mileage (workouts, indoor bike machines, walking without a pedometer, etc.) you can use the following conversion: every 1/2 hour light exercise = 1 mile; 1/2 hour of intense exercise = 2 miles.
- We will list the group totals but actual individual mileages will remain confidential. Laurie will be the only one who knows how much each person contributed.
- There will be no penalty if you fail to make your daily or weekly goal. Laurie will adjust our route if needed as we go.
